Violent Earth
Volcanoes and earthquakes are two of nature's scariest wonders. Rivers of hot, melted rock gush from an erupting volcano. Ash, rocks and gas blast high in the air. During an earthquake, the ground heaves and houses, trees and bridges collapse.
The Earth`s crust
The Earth`s hard outer crust sits on top of red-hot, squishy rock. The crust is not one solid layer but is made of giant slabs of rock. The huge slabs are called plates.
